Proxy Login

Act As – Proxy login

This feature allows for a user to proxy for another user. Commonly used for delegating work or for IT to troubleshoot issues related to permissions etc.

Steps overview:

  1. Configuration file change
  2. Database/table setup
  3. RPD – Import table, and configure Initialization Block/Variables
  4. Custom message (the location described in oracle docs does not work. see below for the correct location for this file)
  5. Enter User information
  6. Set up privileges
  7. Test
  8. Use

1. Open the instanceconfig.xml file (%MIDDLEWARE%instancesinstance1configOracleBIPresentationServicesComponentcoreapplication_obips1)
Add this after the < ServerInstance> tag
     LogonParamSQLTemplate
     100

Restart BI Presentation Server
2. Create this table in a database which is accessible from RPD/BI Server
CREATE TABLE OBIEE_PROXY
(
PROXY_USER_ID VARCHAR2(30 BYTE) NOT NULL ,
PROXY_TARGET_ID VARCHAR2(30 BYTE) NOT NULL ,
PROXY_LEVEL VARCHAR2(10 BYTE) NOT NULL ,
CONSTRAINT OBIEE_PROXY_PK PRIMARY KEY ( PROXY_USER_ID , PROXY_TARGET_ID ),
CONSTRAINT chk_PROXY_LEVEL CHECK ( PROXY_LEVEL IN (‘full’, ‘ restricted’))
ENABLE
)
3. Import this table into the RPD, physical layer. Create a separate Database and connection pool.
